Pack Trips & Recreation Horses

National Park. We had set up a "base camp" at the base of this mountain and were just
"day riding" to get some orientation. The pack horses roamed and grazed freely today,
tomorrow they would be packed up and another base camp made further along the trail.

Below, along the trail to Lake Louise (that is the Red Deer River below us), we had base camped and were day riding today. Note: This was about 1 hour after we had our "close encounter" with Mr. Grizzly - the horses were quite "uneasy" for sometime following the event. (Wrangler - big sorrel on the left is still looking for him!) |

Below, the base camp at Willmore Wilderness area - commonly referred to as the "hump".
If you could make it over this once last "hump" you'd be heading right into shear rock
and mountain and true wilderness country.
Below, our pack trip into Banff National Park - via the Clearwater River & Harrison Flats. The
lucky two year olds got to do alot of the packing - but were packed pretty lightly this trip.

Photo below, above our base camp heading to Banff. We actually were not sure which direction we were suppose to be heading? Bruce suggested we find a high advantage point, get the lay of the land and figure out which direction to head in the morning. If all else fails - climb a mountain I guess. Wish he'd learn how to use that GPS!? |

good photo of Bruce trying take a bath in this river - he looks good all Blue and everything!!
